ENEMIES

Junkies/Composites
Victims of their prosthetics that took control of their bodies. They now wander the ruins of the surface. Highly dangerous, they kill without hesitation, seemingly blindly driven to build on themselves – be that via mutilating their flesh or splicing more metal and prosthetics into their ruined bodies.
Sniffers
Mainly dogs, wolves or foxes which have been repurposed to hunt down humans and Subhumans in packs. Smart enough to act as scouts, with an amplified howl to bring the rest of their horde if need be.
Malware
Giant mechanical titans with near limitless strength. Rumours and tales of their relentless ferocity can be heard in hushed whispers in all segments and clusters of Subland and the polluted surface.
Turrets
Large, crude mechanical beasts capable of slow, simple movements due to their fragile tracks. Unsuited to travelling the tunnels of Subland, they should never be underestimated however, as they can propel fire in a full 360 degree arc.
Stalkers
Built specifically for silence and speed, these machines have blades for limbs and are capable of incredible acrobatic feats. Rarely seen on the surface and fortunately seldom seen in Subland, suggesting their numbers are few and far between.
Trappers
Small mechanical spiders built specifically to neutralise any prosthetics they attach to. Their sternums release small but powerful electro magnetic pulses and they store fibre wire in their abdomens for holding their prey.
Collectors
Nightmares of fused flesh and metal, they use their many limbs to drag scrap and live humans into the deepest pits of Subland. No one has dared to follow them, no matter the screams of help from their victims.
Gigglers
More organic than other Sheens, Gigglers are one of the most common and most horrifying abominations on the surface and below. With eyes pinned wide and faces contorted into a raving grin, they’re maniacal and neurotic laughter acts as a war cry and alerts their hunting parties – as well as to terrify their prey.
Hollows
Easily confused with a pile of scrap, these haphazard mechanical golems are mostly found digging in Sublands Scrapyards. Fragile and territorial, they are only a threat to anyone foolish enough to step into their domain.
Weaponised
Subhumans who act as Underburghs main policing force, however they use further augmentations to their prosthetics to make themselves even deadlier. Loyal only to the Mayor of Underburgh, they follow his every order without hesitation – sparking rumours of brainwashing and torture to ensure such compliance.
Neo-Oculists
Fanatical in their beliefs, the Neo-Oculists are a religious sect based in The Observatory. Convinced their leader, The Lens, is a prophet of the Goddess Adhaya, they preach that the ruined earth is humanities’ punishment and the only hope of salvation is through rejecting technology and awaiting the Goddess’ saviour to be sent to earth.
Underburgh’s Mayor
Matthew Leech quickly became tyrannical in his reign of the largest segment in Subland, removing any notions of a democratic system. His sudden mood swings and addiction to petrol are poorly kept secrets, earning him the whispered nickname: The Gas-o-Leech.
