THE PAST
Editorial
The editorial opportunities I have been involved with have shaped my writing both creatively and professionally. The highlight of these was my time with Edinburgh Festivals Magazine as Editor and reviewer. Fully immersed into the world of Europe’s largest festival, I saw Edinburgh in a different guise.
No longer the dark, haunted city I knew, instead it became a hub of life and activity. People huddled beneath arches, and the depths of Edinburgh rose from the dead spaces they had become, replaced with laughter and echoing chatter. Kept busy by attending, reviewing, scheduling, editing and uploading, I experienced the Fringe at its height and took a deep breath of the culture and talent that was on offer from every corner of the world all packed into my home city.
Gaming
From traversing the deserts of Mad Max: Fury Road, to the underwater dystopia of Bioshock, gaming presents endless possibilities for world building and character development. They are brought to life through visuals, sound, and most importantly, story.
Becoming further involved in the development of games using new technologies such as Virtual Reality, the potential for narrative driven games is huge in this medium. It is those stories that keep us invested and I continue to seek opportunities to be part of that gap. Whether is is copywriting for DogStar VR Lounge, or narrative design for Mogworks Studios, story is at the heart of what I do.
